Collection: Superwash wool

We offer both superwash and non-superwash wool options.

Superwash wool has been treated to reduce the felting and/or shrinking that occurs when wool scales rub against each other in the washing process.  This can be helpful for items that are washed frequently, such as socks.

Superwash wool takes dye differently than non-superwash wool.  The colours can be more vibrant.  It also feels smoother to the touch.

Non-superwash wool is more tricky to dye, as the temperature changes and agitation need to be carefully controlled.  It has not had the additional superwash process applied, and therefore has a smaller environmental impact.
